This Melancholia bag with studded strap is coming from the Resort 2010 collection, and i've been wanting this bag since the beginning of the year. i finally get it by the end of the year and it became the bang of my purchase this year.
The first time i saw this bag at jakandjil blog worn by Julia Von Boehm i didn't know where's that bag from but i knew that i have to have it. i've been dreaming for that kind of strap. i'm a sucker for anything studded. i was asking around at forums where can i find that bag and to finally know that it is a Givenchy.
about the bag :
i have been downsizing the size of my bags lately and try to not to carry unnecessary things but since i bought an iPad i don't carry some of the bags i used to carry anymore cause they're not comfortable to carry it in. i was kinda worried if this bag would fit the iPad with the casing but it fits perfectly :)
i can also carry my essential stuff without over stuffing it, i can say that this bag is about the size of a Chanel Classic Jumbo Flap minus the weight. i filled both bag with the same stuff and the Chanel's still a lot heavier.
leather and strap:
the leather on this bag is so soft, the texture is very smooth, a little bit glossy and it smells so good. i also love the jet black colour. The strap is remove-able and at its widest in the center is 3" and at first i kinda worried it's too big and will slide on my small shoulder but on the first day i don't really feel it sliding down although i constantly being paranoid about it. i think the weight of the studded hardware also help the bag to stay on the shoulder.
hardware and closure :
the hardware is gold and it got a magnetic closure at the front flap
the hardware are the best! it's no cheap hardware, they're quite heavy but i don't feel burdened by this. the studs are amazing! they're heavy just the way i like it. The colour of the hardware are between gold and brass, they bring everything together to the bag, they bring the look of rock n roll chic and luxury at the same time.
compartments :
the bag doesn't come with outside compartment but it come with one 7' zipped pocket inside on the back side on the bag and one 5.5" open compartment inside on the front side of the bag
what i can fit in there :
what i fit the bag now is an iPad, blackberry, iPod, Balenciaga coin purse, Balenciaga mini coin purse, cigarette, a can of candy, keys and few more little things
durability :
this is definitely the bag you can wear everyday without worrying about it.
where i wear this bag :
totally everywhere, i can wear this bag for daily shopping, work, concerts and parties, and i can wear it as a clutch with or without the strap
verdict :
this bag worth the price

I follow your blog,which btw I love, and I know how much you have admired this bag. This post is no exception. Love your detail pics and thorough description of this beautiful bag. I have admired this bag since it came out. I recently purchased a medium Nightingale in the black pebbled leather with the soft brushed gold hardware, which I love, but I wouldn't mind having this beauty either! I am glad you got the bag you have desired and I am sure you will enjoy and have it forever. BTW, where did you find it? Does Barney's still carry it?

i got this bag on Barneys. i'm not sure if they still have any, when i got this, the bag is not available on the website anymore so i give it a call and they shipped mine from dallas to NY and they did said it was the last one. but i guess u can give it a call, someone might return this bag
I have this exact bag, if anybody is interested in purchasing it please respond. I love this bag and I've owned it for a few years already. It is now time for me to move on with other priorities in my life, such as some dental work I need more then my beautiful handbag.
